AMMONITE

There are a number of legends attached to this rare gem, as the first people to come across it were our first nations people. These include the Blood and Blackfoot Indians. They have their own name for this stone.

                                Buffalo Stone

 The sacred buffalo stone, or Iniskim, is a major medicine object of the first  nations peoples.

 It is a fossilized shell that was found on the prairie. Some of the stones look a lot like animals. In the old days, these stones were used in a ritual for calling buffalo.

The stones were said to have called attention to themselves by making a faint chirp much like a bird would make.
